What Are BMP and CMP Tests?
- The Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) measures 8 key substances in your blood, including:
- Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate)
- Kidney function markers (BUN and creatinine)
- Blood sugar (glucose)
- Calcium
- The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) includes all the BMP tests plus:
- Liver function tests (ALT, AST, ALP, bilirubin)
