When to Seek Care for a Minor Burn
We treat first-degree (superficial) and second-degree (partial-thickness) burns that:
- Are painful, red, or blistered
- Affect a small area (typically less than 3 inches)
- Are located on hands, arms, feet, legs, or trunk
- Result from hot surfaces, steam, minor chemical contact, or brief electrical exposure
Note: Burns involving the face, large surface areas, or third-degree depth should be evaluated in an emergency room.
