Sprains, strains, and minor fractures need more than just rest–they require proper stabilization to prevent further damage and promote healing. At Urgent Care Plus & Wellness, we offer onsite splinting and bracing performed by an experienced physician–not a technician–so you get personalized, expert care the moment you walk in.
Dr. Luke Afuwape, our founder and a board-certified Emergency Medicine doctor, has treated thousands of orthopedic injuries over the past 15+ years. His emergency training means he knows how to quickly assess, stabilize, and protect injuries with the right technique–no unnecessary ER visit required. We proudly serve patients from Richmond, Katy, Aliana, Grand Mission, Mission Bend, and surrounding West Houston neighborhoods.
The only waiting I did was filling out paperwork which was very short. I was taken in immediately to see the provider. The entire staff was very nice. 10/10 would recommend
What Is Splinting and Bracing?
Splinting involves using a rigid or semi-rigid support to immobilize an injured area–commonly used for sprains, tendon injuries, or fractures that don’t require surgery. Bracing provides flexible, supportive protection, often used after a sprain, during recovery, or to reduce reinjury risk.
At Urgent Care Plus & Wellness, we:
- Apply custom-fit splints using padded materials and rigid supports
- Provide prefabricated and adjustable orthopedic braces when appropriate
- Ensure that splints or braces are properly positioned to reduce pain and swelling
- Educate you on how to care for your injury at home–including when to follow up
We keep commonly used splints and braces in stock, so you’ll leave stabilized–without the need for an outside supply store or additional visit.
When Should You Get Splinted or Braced?
Dr. Luke may recommend a splint or brace for:
- Suspected bone fractures
- Acute ankle, wrist, or finger sprains
- Ligament or tendon injuries
- Pain and swelling following a sports injury or fall
- Chronic overuse pain (like tennis elbow or patellofemoral syndrome)
Even mild injuries can worsen without the right support. Getting splinted early helps reduce long-term damage and speeds up recovery.

What Sets Our Care Apart?
Unlike retail urgent cares that rely on general staff for splinting, your care at our clinic is physician-directed from start to finish. Dr.Luke performs a full physical evaluation, reviews any necessary digital X-rays (done onsite), and determines the best stabilization method based on your unique needs. Every splint or brace is custom-fitted and explained so you know exactly how to care for it.
Our approach ensures:
- Faster recovery with proper alignment and protection
- Less risk of complications or incorrect splint placement
- Streamlined referrals if orthopedic follow-up is needed
This is hospital-level orthopedic stabilization–without the wait, stress, or inflated cost.
